PAGODAI see a peaceful Pagoda type structure with a central stone plinth for people to be able to lay flowers or candles or messages for their loved ones.
The Pagoda to consist of 6 x 15ft columns built of tiled faced bricks topped with a firework of weather proofed oak beams. It is essential that we have good seating therefore I propose 2 seats along the back and a further 2 seats on either side forming a square. In the centre space a plinth 3ft high and 5ft long with the red ribbon logo either on top or on all 4 sides. The columns to be 12ft apart and 3 in front and 3 behind approx 15ft in width the beams on top. I suggest that the surfaces be tiled and that a Plaque be inscribed and placed on the front of the plinth. The whole area to be 36ft square and stone flagged.
Please note: The photo below was Jack Dixons original idea for the Aids Memorial. The proposal was uncosted and the Pagoda idea put to the vote above was produced and costed by a local builder.
