_Skip_'s Blog : Should cloakrooms be a free service for its customers

Cloakrooms are present in most clubs and a charge is normally made; this varies between 50p and £1.50 and obviously helps to pay for the cloakroom attendants wage.

Meanwhile, in the club or bar, coats and bags lay around, causing trip hazards for the punters and an easy money making scheme for the thieves who take advantage of the contents.

It would take a brave person to start giving a free service.

I suppose a cloakroom facility is classed as a service. You leave your coat in a safe evnironment where it is going to be kept safe all evening (apparently). There is the out lay to the venue. Staff, coathangers, tickets. There is also the insurance. M...

I don't mind paying up to £1.00 to know that my coat etc is safe, but above that I feel it's a bit of a liberty.

I don't think one pound is too much to ask to keep your coat or bag etc safe all night.
Let's face it it's saturday night and most people are out dancing enjoying themselves and the cloakroom attendant is stuck in a little claustophobic box.
DJ's expect to be paid for heir saturday night service so ...
