Cloakrooms are present in most clubs and a charge is normally made; this varies between 50p and £1.50 and obviously helps to pay for the cloakroom attendants wage.
Meanwhile, in the club or bar, coats and bags lay around, causing trip hazards for the punters and an easy money making scheme for the thieves who take advantage of the contents.
It would take a brave person to start giving a free service.

Should cloakrooms be a free service for its customers? The best answer will receive a free coat hanger facility on either a Monday or Thursday night, after 10.30pm, at Charles Street.

What a tough question to answer !
read moreI don't see that it should be totally free I think £1.00 should be the most people pay for a cloakroom. at least this way you know your Coats and Bags are safe and you won't have to go hunting round the club for them. We don't charge before Midnight at the weekends to come in to Legends Club, but people still don't seem to want to part with £1.00......... why ?? anyway this is my view. Reece
Having now worked at Legends since November, I have seen an issue with people not using the cloakroom, when I worked at Revenge people paid their money to come in to the venue and then went straight to the cloakroom and queued to put their belongings in. Personally ...

Should cloakrooms be free??? what a question.
read moreost respectable venues cover the cost of any Items lost in a cloakroom to the value of around £50. Surley a £1 for knowing your property is being safely looked after is a fair price.
I suppose a cloakroom facility is classed as a service. You leave your coat in a safe evnironment where it is going to be kept safe all evening (apparently). There is the out lay to the venue. Staff, coathangers, tickets. There is also the insurance. M...

I don't mind paying up to £1.00 to know that my coat etc is safe, but above that I feel it's a bit of a liberty.

I don't think one pound is too much to ask to keep your coat or bag etc safe all night.

Let's face it it's saturday night and most people are out dancing enjoying themselves and the cloakroom attendant is stuck in a little claustophobic box.
