things to do in Brighton

Sometimes affectionately known as West End by the Sea, Brighton certainly has more than its fair share of performance and nightlife venues.
West End By The Sea
As well as the historic Theatre Royal, home to major theatrical touring companies, there is the perhaps slightly more worn-around-the-edges Brighton Centre where you can catch up with the latest telly-talent finalists or ageing pop poppet! Attracting international names in both classical, stage and pop is the newly refurbished and rather fabulous Dome Complex - well worth a visit.
But many people descend on Brighton not just for the smaller entertainment venues liberally scattered throughout the city. Catch top comedy and live music of all varieties up close and personal on one of the three stages at Komedia, or if unsigned bands are your thing then there you'll find something on pretty much every night of the year. Down on the seafront the Concorde 2 has a strong line-up of great bands throughout the year.
Brighton has a plethora of restaurants serving up the world on a plate – check out our favourite eateries, all reviewed by our team, in the restaurants directory.
After sun down, Brighton’s infamous nightlife springs into action. With more bars and pubs per capita than anywhere outside of London, it’s hardly surprising that a pint or two at the local is a very popular pastime.
As the midnight hour approaches, the city’s clubs kick in with music of all genres blasting out on the dancefloor and attracting some of the big guns in the DJ world too.
Brighton was one of the first of the UK’s cities to be successfully trialled on the new 24 hour licence, so you’ll find some clubs and bars open through the night at weekends, with a cluster of bleary eyed clubbers emerging in the morning sun.
