Those of us that live in Brighton & Hove will have paid little attention to the rumours that the West Pier was, once again, due to be restored to its former glory...

Apparently, so the story goes this time, someone has recognised that the forthcoming i360 doughnut-on-a-stick will draw quite a crowd to the area... in which case the crowd can probably be fleeced for a few extra quid to take a stroll along the pier as well. This seems to make some sense.

Whilst we're on the subject of the flying doughnut - plans to start work on the project have suffered setbacks... we're not quite sure if they're still on target for that 2009 completion date...
