In the heart of the Brighton’s gay quarter and a mere stone’s throw from the giddy delights of the pier, you’ll find Candy Bar now in its second and rather sumptuous incarnation, at 129 St. James Street.
Head downstairs to this plush subterranean den of delight, formerly Club Fuk and Zanzibar, to cut a swathe on their dancefloor, hang out at the swanky bar with a few cocktails, or catch some quality live music - or indeed play drag queen bingo, belt out a few karaoke numbers, or play killer pool, to name but a few of their early evening delights. Open 7 nights a week, it’s fast-becoming the pre-club bar and in fact the club bar - with its belting soundsystem, resident DJs and regular nights such as the regular residences by Jimmy Somerville, Riki Rocket, Kate Wildblood and Queen Josephine, there really is something for everyone.
