Bulldog

Proudly setting out her stall slap bang in the middle of St James' Street, Bulldog is Brighton's oldest gay bar having had its doors open for over 25 years.

A heady cocktail of very reasonably priced beer and testosterone, this is a venue where men are men and chickens run scared. One or two laydees do venture in, but it is mainly for gay men of all descriptions and is very much a natural pre-club for the many nearby gay clubs. That said, it's pretty much a pitstop for all. Regular events and entertainment make it popular with the locals, but visitors to Brighton can rarely resist a visit.

Bulldog is undergoing a change at present, with refurbishment planned - and upstairs is now open and providing somewhat of a distraction.

Their website has a community feel to it and takes this venue further towards the forefront of gay drinking in Brighton.
