If there was such a thing as a run-of-the-mill queen then Queen Josephine wouldn't be one... Popular with both the boys and the girls (can one DJ have more groupies?), she has residencies at Mad Cow, Passion, Envy, Wet Pussy, Decent, Bring It On, Shameless Hussies and the Candy Bar. A girl that is rapidly gaining the respect of her deck-mates and the adoration of her crowds!
Keep your eyes on the REALBrighton listings for full details of her new night, Majesty.

Quick Reference: All About Queen Josephine...
|
| Where did you grow up? |
I don’t think I have grown up yet! But I was born in... and this is a
disgrace... Chipping Sodbury, near Bristol. I would love to say I’ve
resided in castles and mansions but no. It’s a maisonette for the
missus and me now. |
| What really gets on your nerves? |
Polystyrene. And double parking. I need to get the royal carriage
out every now and then you know. |
| What d'you love about Brighton? |
It’s hard to answer this as there are so many marvellous facets to
fabulous Brighton. But all my lovely loyal subjects who come and shake
their arses happily when I’m playing surely make Brighton love perfect. |
| So. Vinyl or CD? |
Vinyl! It's so rich and tactile! When I’m lugging my record bags I
obviously prefer CD's. but hold on... I’m the f***ing queen! Why isn’t
somebody else carrying my bag? |
| How long have you been entertaining people with music? |
I started singing in bands and writing music about a hundred years
ago. [Kate Wildblood: She judged a dog show with Barbra Windsor don’t you know!] ...Yes but the glamour was too much so I hit the decks in the mid
nineties with Stroppy and Butch at the Zanzibar! |
| What was your first gig? |
Royal birthday parties aside I think it was upstairs at the Pub
With No Name. My first ‘proper’ residency was at Brighton’s Candy Bar. |
| For the uninitiated, what sort of music do you play? |
Rocking regal house music with an urban touch and a winning smile.
All the while modelling a crown, wondering where I put my handbag and
jumping up and down on my (imaginary) red carpet. |
| When you've not got a pair of headphones on, what?s your favourite thing to do? |
Kate Wildblood... Oh and galloping across the Downs on a large
steed. |

Your selected track for the forthcoming REALBrighton Timeless Dancefloor
Classics album:
Degrees Of Motion's Shine On and the wonderful Reach Out To Me
by ATFC and Inaya Day. (The chorus sounds like she's singing "Queen
Josephine"!)

Your favourite cocktail recipe for the forthcoming REALBrighton book of
Outstanding Cocktails:
The Harvey Wallbanger used to do it for me but the longer my reign
gets the shorter the drinks become. Now it's tequila slammers every
time. |
