Pride Update March 2007
Thursday, 22nd March 07
Winter Pride
This year’s Winter Pride proved the most successful yet with some really exciting events benefiting both Pride and many other LGBT groups and charities. A full report will be issued soon together with final fundraising totals which we expect to be a substantial increase on last year. We would like to thank all businesses who worked so hard with their fundraising efforts and the groups who staged events during the festival.
AGM
Tuesday 27th March at 7pm
The Thistle Hotel, Kings Road, Brighton (The Renaissance Suite, Lower Ground Floor)
The Annual General meeting conducts the formal business of the organisation and gives members a say in how Pride is run and the election of the Management Committee. Anyone who is interested may attend the AGM but only those who have been members of the charity for 28 days are eligible to vote. Further details are available on the website www.brightonpride.org
How To Event
Monday 30th April at 6pm
Friends Meeting House, Ship Street
Following last months’ successful workshop and knowledge exchange event – we are holding another in April. Come along to pick up useful tips and advice on how to run a stall, build a float or stage an event. Application forms will be available together with other useful documentation. Another business forum will be held well in advance of Pride, date and venue to be advised.
Pride Companion Dog Show
Sunday 8th July @ Hove Rugby Club
Come and join the fun at the UK’s campest Dog Show. This is a Kennel Club Registered event with both novelty and pedigree classes. If there are any businesses who would like to participate or even become a partner with us with for this event, please contact the Pride office.
Summer Festival
The Festival week will run from July 28th through to 5th August and we will be publishing another full week of events to be held throughout the city.
Parade Theme
Pride members submitted some great themes but it was ‘Musicals’ that won the day! Float applications are already available – just contact the Pride Office office@brightonpride.org for a pack. The deadline for registering your float or walking tableaux is 16th July but we do have to cap the total number of floats so would recommend early registration. Unfortunately, due to the water mains replacement works on North Street, we will have to re-route the Parade for this year only.
Support Pride
We are soon launching a Hotels Supporters scheme – watch this space. For any other businesses who are not yet signed up to the Pride Business Supporters scheme, please see the attached form. For further details, please contact the Pride office.
Individuals can also support Pride by joining as a member, form attached.
Pride Trustees
Pride is always looking for skilled and experienced people who may be interested in joining the Board. Full details are available on http://www.brightonpride.org/press-info/document-29-33.php
