Pride in Brighton & Hove announces 2008 theme

Pride in Brighton & Hove is delighted to announce the theme for this year's Carnival Parade on Saturday 2nd August as ‘Pride Around The World’. The theme received an overwhelming vote from Pride’s board of Trustees who would like to thank Pride member Avee Holmes of Brighton who suggested it.

So its time to get stitching, weaving, gluing and sewing ready for another spectacular event. Think partying in Peru, swinging in Switzerland, gyrating in Greece, laughing in Luxembourg, singing in Scotland or dancing in Denmark – Go Global, the list is endless with loads of possibilities for colourful floats, exciting costumes, music and dancing. Pride will be awarding grants of up to £500 to local LGBT organizations to support their events during the festival week, Saturday 26th July to Sunday 3rd August; to find out more please contact the Pride office on 01273 775939. Community Festival grants are also available from Brighton and Hove City Council to support organizations activities during the main day of Pride on 2nd August, to find out more please go to www.brighton-hove.gov.uk

Previous themes have included Carry On, The Greatest Show on Earth, Silver Screen, Heroes and Heroines and of course last years show stopping Musicals theme.
