Call For Halloween Volunteers
Thursday, 22nd October 09
CALL OUT FOR ‘TRICK OR TREATERS’ TO HELP PRIDE
Pride in Brighton & Hove is casting out a spell to all you closet witches, ghouls, goblins, ghosts, wizards, warlocks and vamps to dress up, celebrate Halloween and help Pride with our first ever street collection day.
To get the party started we will be joining the cast of the Rocky Horror Show in their attempt to break the world record for the BIGGEST Time Warp dance on Brighton seafront by the old paddling pool, on the East Side of the West Pier from 10am. The record attempt will be filmed by The Paul O’Grady Show and attended by Richard O’Brien himself!
After the morning’s pelvic-thrusting workout it will be back to central Pride HQ to join the rest of the ‘Trick or Treaters’ when you’ll be paired up and sent on your vampy way to collect treats (money) for Pride (no tricks!) in Brighton’s City Centre.
Pride is looking for a team of around 50 volunteers between 10am-6pm; 10am-1pm for the Rocky Horror Time Warp and 2pm-6pm for the main street collections. Whether you can spare just a couple of hours or would like to help all day we look forward to hearing from you and you could be a winner too as there’s a prize for the most outrageous fancy dress and the team that collect the most treats for Pride during the day.
To apply please email your full name, contact details and the time you are available to help to: or telephone 01273 775939.
Anyone wishing to donate towards Pride’s fundraising appeal can do so via its website: http://www.justgiving.com/brightonpride/donate/

Notes to editors:
Pride in Brighton & Hove
I. Pride is a celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) lives to which everyone is welcome. We use the carnival parade and main park event to showcase the diversity and contribution that all people make as part of the LGBT community of Brighton and Hove and spread the message that sexual and gender discrimination are not acceptable. We believe homophobia, biphobia, transphobia and discrimination of any kind against LGBT people in Brighton and Hove or elsewhere have no place in today’s society.
II. Pride is a registered charity run by a board of voluntary trustees and a small staff team and supported by hundreds of volunteers. We work throughout the year to deliver the carnival parade and main park event, as well as other education and awareness raising activities and events.
