Brighton Pride : news
Girls Do Pride hits the spot
Tuesday, 24th November 09
On Sunday 15th November 2009 artists from Brighton Pride Women’s Performance Tent played a sold-out gig at the Latest Music Bar on Manchester Street.
The atmosphere was electric as well as acoustic, with a fantastic £753.44 being raised for Pride in Brighton & Hove, including proceeds from a raffle that included a three-month supply of personalised home-made cupcakes, show tickets for ‘Outrage’ at The Sallis Benny and ‘Never Forget’ at the Theatre Royal for the winners.
Nicky Mitchell opened the set with a blast that wowed the crowd, accompanied by saw-playing artist Ali Jeffrey, followed by Bailey's striking vocal and musical talent. Invocal had the crowd in hysterics with razor wit and amazing harmonies. An impromptu sermon/song from compere Cat Harding and Nicky Mitchell prompted plenty of hallelujah-ing for and with Pride in the midst of a perfect November storm. Heads.Hearts rocked with a fantastic set mirroring their rapturous reception at the tent and headline band Greymatter rounded off the evening in the mesmerising way we’ve come to expect.
A huge thank you to all the artists, who donated their performances, to the Latest Music Bar and all who came to support women’s music and Pride in Brighton & Hove.
Another charity women’s performance event will be announced soon – don’t miss it!
