Village Street Party : newsThe CIT Presents The Village Street Party 2008 Friday, 11th July 08 Presented by The Community Involvement Team, The Village Street Party 2008 will take place in St James Street and surrounding roads on Saturday 2nd August : 6pm til Midnight and Sunday 3rd August : Midday to 6pm. The streets will be closed as revellers celebrating the Pride Festival in the city that weekend descend on St James Street to keep the party spirit going. Outside bars and extended licences have been arranged in many of the venues in the area and there'll be food outlets open during the party and a sound system will be relaying live coverage from Juice FM with local DJs keeping the soundtrack consistent along the streets. Venues and businesses who are contributing and supporting the event include The Amsterdam, The Aquarium Theatre Bar, Brighton Rocks, The Bulldog, Cafe Bella, Candy Bar, Cardome, Charles Street Bar & Club, Cherry Tree Mediterranean Deli, Harry Ramsden's, Izzy Cafe, The Latest Bar (Joogleberry Playhouse), The Marine Tavern, (No Name) Restaurant & Bar, Queens Arms, R-Bar, The Royal Oak, Starbucks, The Star Inn, The PV at The Jury’s Out,10 to 3 Promotions, Three and Ten, The White Horse and Zone Bar. Please support these businesses when visiting the Street Party. The events is also being supported by local authorities and emergency services, including Sussex Police, South East Coast Ambulance, Brighton & Hove City Council, East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service, St John Ambulance and Select Security & Stewarding Ltd and the event is produced in association with Triptych Events. Local media supporting the event includes REALBrighton.com, Gscene Magazine and Juice FM. The organisers are urging everyone to follow a few simple guidelines to ensure that party-goers have a fun and safe time at the Street Party and ask that no glass is brought onto the site. Street drinking is prohibited outside the site boundaries. In the case of a serious incident requiring emergency response, the public will be directed by Tannoy and should walk swiftly when told where to go. Remember, everyone involved in The Village Street Party 2008 is working with you and the Police are present to prevent crime and to assist the Community Involvement Team in managing the crowds. The Village Street Party is organised by The Community Involvement Team, a group consisting of supporting venues and the local authorities involved in the production of this event. Monies have been collected from participating venue in order to provide the facilities and infrastructure required for an event of this nature. Any excess monies will be donated to charity and full accounts will be published after the event. A high resolution logo is available, along with a PDF of the site map and high resolution images of previous Village Street Party events from subject to normal crediting terms.
