PJ Aldred secures a move to Pride London

She used to like being by the seaside

Tuesday, 2 October 2007

After ten years with Pride In Brighton & Hove - Operations Manager PJ Aldred stood down in September 2007. The last decade has seen PJ play a vital role in the celebrations that have become Europe's biggest free festival and she'll be sadly missed. But she'll not be twiddling thumbs - as PJ was happy to announce this month.

Pride London UK have secured PJ's services as Operations Consultant. Paul Birrell, Chair of Pride London, said, "We are delighted that PJ has joined Pride London. This is a really exciting time to be joining us; we are in the process of a major reorganisation, following the departure of our Chief Executive, to ensure the organisation can sustain its phenomenal growth and popularity. PJ brings with her a wealth of talent and experience and we are all very excited to be working with her."

Although sad to be packing up her deckchair and sunglasses to head up to the big smoke, PJ is excited about her future role at Pride London. "I have spent an extremely fun decade at Brighton, but felt the need for a new challenge. As the UK's capital Pride, I think Pride London will be that challenge! Pride London has a dedicated board and fantastic volunteers and I look forward to working with them all on this world class event."

Pride London, a registered charity, is the capital's annual gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender cultural festival. The climax of the festival on 30 June 2007 attracted over 460,000 visitors and with sponsorship, community, stakeholder engagement and Winter Pride just some of the tasks she’ll be taking on, PJ Aldred will play a vital role in continuing that success.
