Common problems and fixes discussed following server hiccup

Trouble logging in?

Thursday, 4 November 2004

Following the recent server hiccup there are a number of issues that people have been experiencing with the site:

problem reosolution
My username & password don't work ...if you registered between 22nd of July and 31st October 2004 then you will need to re-register. We carelessly lost your account details. We promise not to be so careless ever again and apologise for the hassle.
My username & password seem to work, I get a welcome message, but the site doesn't show me on the 'online' list and I can't access the VIP lounge You need to flush your cookies! Usually found somewhere under 'preferences' or 'security' settings of your browser you need to find the option that says 'delete cookies' or something similar. This should fix the problem. Apologies for the inconvenience!
I added loads of captions but they've all disappeared! Yikes! If you added captions between 22nd of July and the 31st of October then, very unfortunately, these have vanished into the electronic ether. When you've finished screaming at us and calmed down a bit and if you're feeling particularly witty then we heartily encourage you to go and add some captions again. We solomnly promise to take better care of them this time.
I clicked "I'm in this photo" on loads of pictures, but all my little green men have vanished. If you clicked on "I'm in this photo" between the 22nd of July and the 31st of October then... well... I'm afraid you'll need to do it all over again because that information was lost when we restarted the database after the crash. We've taken steps to make sure we never forget that you were in that photo again!
My cat's gone missing and I get hungry in the middle of the night sometimes. These things are unrelated, although you may want to try the RSPCA - they often receive missing pets and may be able to reuinite you. Try not to eat after midnight because your body won't metabolise the food as effectively and you could end up putting on weight.
