We would like to warn people regarding this so they can be extra vigilant and cautious. As a result of these incidents, there will be an increased police presence in the area, for the sole purpose of identifying offenders of these assaults. If you see anything suspicious, please call us. In an emergency, always dial 999. WITNESS APPEAL The Anti-Victimisation Unit (AVU) at Brighton Police Station are investigating a serious sexual assault on a 37 year old man that occurred in the Dukes Mound area of Brighton at around 3 - 4am in the early hours of Saturday 9th July 2005. This is being treated as a homophobic incident. The victim was in the area of one of the benches at Dukes Mound when he was approached by a male who introduced himself. They were talking for a short time before another two males approached them. It was not long before a serious sexual assault is alleged to have taken place, in the vicinity of a bench in the Dukes Mound area, involving all three males attacking the victim. The descriptions of the suspects are as follows: 1) White male, about 6ft tall, ginger hair in an ponytail, bit of beard growth on his face, late 30`s - 40`s. At the time he was wearing a Light blue T shirt with Reebok in yellow across the front. 2) White male, 5`9", stocky build, cropped blonde hair, white short sleeved shirt, with an eyebrow piercing. Early 30`s. 3) White male, blonde hair brushed forward, 5`7" , stocky build , with a goatee beard and with distinctive tattoo on his right arm of a snake wrapped around a sword. The police are keen to talk to anyone who has information on this matter. They are particularly interested in speaking to a taxi driver who may have been in the area near the time and witnessed some of the events.
