On The Pull
Brighton feels the cultural love

On The Pull

Wednesday, 13 February 2008

It’s time to find love, only this year it will be on the walls of your local museum. Brighton Museum is going On The Pull from the 14th February. Explore love and attraction, tender romance and the call of the wild courtesy of Brighton Museum and feel the cultural pull with friends and lovers. Discover hidden love stories, from coming of age to the thrill of the chase, when love goes wrong and the happy-ever-after.

Through music, film, paintings, pottery and postcards On The Pull will explore courtship across the ages and in the animal kingdom. Brighton Museum invites you to take the covers off love, lust, adultery, intrigue and revenge. Track your conquests on their local love map or chill out and make your mark in the kissing booth. Be it song, dance, art, film or talks On The Pull will hit your G Spot. All culturally of course.

On the Pull takes over the main galleries of Brighton Museum with displays including The Secret Stories which draws from Brighton Museums collections to explore the quest to find a perfect lover, A Love Of Oils which will explore the themes of love and courtship, May Happiness Knock You Over, a new film commission by international artist Melanie Manchot created in the Botanical Gardens of Bogotá, Colombia and The Course of True Love Plot which will take a peak at the rules of attraction and the etiquette of courtship from the 18th to 20th centuries.

Complimenting the exhibition and also planning to pull on your heartstrings is Al Start and her latest album ‘I Heart History’. Released on February the 14th ‘I Heart History’ is ten songs of loveliness inspired by true stories found by Al in Brighton Museum's Archives. Al will be performing songs from the album live at the Museum on February 14th.
