Ok, so a few months ago when I heard fat boy slim was playing at wildfruit I got quite excited seeing as I had never heard a set of his, and seeing as he's a worldwide celebrity..I was really looking forward to it. However, when it came to his set I wasn't exactly impressed. I mean I like gorillaz as much as the next guy, but does putting a beat over it make it a dance tune? It may have been aprechiated more in other venues but for me it wasn't what I expect when I come to wildfruit. That fact that on the flier it said "special wildfruit set" shows that he doesn't normally play the music that you hear at wildfruit. He obvious is a gd DJ to get where he is, but just because he is famous doesn't mean his music is going to be right for the wildfruit environment. Either that or the straights are very easy to please! Thankfully Mr Hayward was on hand to salvage the rest of my night, and showed everyone what wildfruit is all about. I dread to think how much it cost them to hire Mr Cook, but was it really well spent?? Oh and to top it off, that bloody woman comes on stage and thinks she's in Bristol! Personally I think we should stick to the fabulous DJs that play for us week in week out, or the Djs that come down from the London scene. Pete Hayward, Dulcie Danger, King K, Queen Jo etc, always play great sets, and always leave us Brightonians wanting more. Wheareas last night, for me, the end of fat boys set could not come quick enough. Was I the only one who thought the same? Anyway, ending my weekend tonight at Bar150, so c u there if your out.

Everyone knows fatboy slim plays a very different style to the usual funky house we hear at WildFruit. If he was going to play the same funky tunes that we hear from Dulcie or Haywood would there really be any point in him even being there? I really enjoyed his set and it was a really good change to...
read more hear something a bit different in the main room. Maybe we can get a few more A List DJs bringing their own twist to Wild Fruit once in a while..

I must say I was disappointed by Fatboys mixing and music choice, it didnt flow quite right, but we're usually so lucky listening to the amazing Fruity residents. I just remember being on the beach when he played a brilliant set, a great memory from the Days Of Yor.. and hearing of the success of hi...
read mores parties around the world. But if anyone has listened to Normans music more recently its far from what we expect at Wild Fruit. I was interested to hear what he was going to do and it certainly was interesting. but a big thankyou to wild fruit for giving us the opportunity to hear such great DJs as Norman, Seamus Haji, and all the PA's they showcase. what other club night makes such an effort? certainly not envy on a friday night!!

Fat Boy Slim is currently in talks with the council to hold an outdoor New Years Day party on the beach. Providing the media don't advertise it, if it goes through that might put us in mind of the great concert on the beach all those years ago. Probably my best EVER night in Brighton - despite the s...

Now that to me sounds like a great idea, and certainly would be a very gd way to get over the hangover...that is if I go to bed at all! Now I'm not being hypocritical here, I like Fat Boy Slim, just not for wildfruit

An estimated 250,000 turned up last time, beyond the anticipated 60,000. Extra police where called in, a man died of a heart attack and a woman fell from railings, etc... I think it’s absolutely hilarious, (hilarious as in what the hell), that this event can happen but then we weren’t able to hold a...
read moren official street party this year because of safety fears, (6,000 people having a dance and drink), when in-fact there had been no street party problems in previous years what so ever!
And just to add.. that i'm sorry this is a bit off track, but geee I'm so angry about it still, lol, however we are working on it for next year.

Save your energies for the forthcoming wranglings you will no doubt have to go through to restore Pride's street party to its original glory.
Another (less publicised and better organised) concert on the beach for New Year sounds great. Even though it will be cold ! LOL
Looking for forward to the Bulldog's and Real Brighton's trip to Prague. Well, I think I am...

Thanks for the props...but djing wouldn't be what it is without superstar djs..whilst people complained about Normans mixing, he was playing tunes like Back to my Roots which don't have the house 4/4 beat so therefore are impossible to mix...Norman has done a lot in raising the city's profile and we...
read more should respect that although I must say Pete did raise the roof that night and he really showed us why he is Brightons reigning resident. Big love and see you at the Secret Sunday Sundae...your Danger xxx

Yeah I'm sorry guys but I thought Norm was rubbish. I too had really been looking forward to it but the combination of a TOTAL LACK of mixing and completely misjudging the Wild Fruit spirit meant that I disappeared upstairs for most of his set: looking down on the pretty inanimate dancefloor just co...
read morenfirmed that for me. It was also interesting to see how much gay-er the dancefloor got (if more empty) as soon as HRH so-called superstar DJ finished. Missed opportunity if you ask me but won't stop me following the Wild Fruit bunch! Peace.
