The bar formerly known as Oriental...
review As you may have read in the local press, the venue formerly known as the Oriental, has been taken over and is know to be known as the Entertainer.Tucked away at at the bottom of Montpelier Road, just at the Brighton / Hove Border, this once gay-run pub was extremely popular in its heyday, but sadly that came to an end about a year or so ago… Now it’s back under the rainbow banner, and would like to welcome customers old, and new. Fred and his team, opened their doors with a bang, with cabaret from the one person in Brighton that will definitely pull the crowds in from afar - Phill Starr. As I entered the door, I was amazed at just how many people were packed into what is quite a small venue. I only managed to get a quick Glimpse of Phil before the crowd were applauding and whistling to try and encourage the encores. In true Brighton drag-circuit style, it wasn’t long after Phil had finished that the crowds started to disperse, leaving a more comfortable number of customers in the bar. The Venue has a whole calendar of Cabaret lined up, with performances every Wednesday and Sunday. REALBrighton.com, wish the team at the Entertainer a very positive future. It’s been too long since the residents of this area had a cabaret venue.
