With a line-up that included the magnificent (and a little scarey) Kitty Litter, Myfanwy and Taz, the evening was set to be a resounding success. A packed pub, eager to support their favourite acts, and a bucket being liberally filled with funds for Pride... the stage was set.

A bit of a shame that the sound system seemed to be wimpering into a slow and painful death. REALBrighton's listings junkie David had given his time up for the event to twiddle the knobs of the mixing desk and pop on the backing tracks. Unfortunately, it was like trying to fill the Albert Hall with an egg-box and a match stick. It wasn't good and he was rather unfairly blamed for it!

Given the number of cabaret benefits doing the rounds in Brighton at the moment it actually made things quite interesting! Watching the talent stretched, as they were, into performing sometimes with no amplification at all, proved what very real talent we have in Brighton.

Special mention goes to Kitty (who didn't have a screaming fit and just raised the odd eyebrow) - a real trouper who carried on regardless. I overheard one of the crowd commenting that Scouse Drag Queens are the funniest things on the planet...

The fabulous Taz went on without a Mic and pulled off something really very special. A real voice that didn't rely on the reverb. The crowd loved it!

The Queens Head team and Myfanwy worked their butts off to produce a real success and showed true grit when needed.
