This Sunday saw the grand opening of the Amsterdam’s newly refurbished bar. So, never one to pass up on a free glass of champers and some nibbles, I was only too happy to pop along. The new funky-but-gentle lighting creates a really relaxed and modern atmosphere. The bar has been opened up to give a soft, contemporary feel, which will be just perfect on those lazy summer days for those of us not lucky enough to get a spot on the very popular terrace - which has been my home on way too many sunny afternoons sipping a pint overlooking the pier… (Mmmm… excuse me, drifted into a little dream world there - roll on Summer - I miss you!)
Talking of pints, the drink choice has been dramatically improved too. The new improved “Imported Heineken" is now being offered, joined very soon by Budweiser, both on tap. Brewed in Amsterdam, Amstel, is a perfect addition. The Amsterdam bar was never famous for it’s choice of wine (“Is that Red or White darling?") so the new wine list will prove very popular I’m sure.
And what better to go with a glass of nice wine than something to eat (or should that be the other way round?) the newly hired chef has been busy working a fab menu - I was lucky enough to have a sneak peak and… wow… I know where a lot of my hard-earned cash will be spent in coming months!
Great new look, new feel, new drinks and the cherry on top has to be the newly approved late licence! What more could you ask for people? This new and improved Amsterdam will pleasantly surprise you, I promise. As I was leaving, I overheard someone saying, “...they’ve taken it up a peg or two on the class stakes that’s for sure!" And I agree.
