Stonewall? Anyone? You at the back? No, it’s not an HIV charity; you’re thinking of excellent ones such as THT and the Sussex Beacon. No, it’s not the thing you find in fields Up North. Sorry Janet. Yes, that’s right, it’s the organisation which has campaigned for years to bring us such run-of-the-mill, hum-drum, life changing things such as an equal age of consent, the abolition of Section 28 and civil partnerships. Each one of these behind-the-scenes campaigns costs a huge amount of money and so this year everyone was back in Brighton for the second Equality Walk to raise money, in particular, for their latest campaign against homophobic bullying in schools.

Sir Ian McKellan, “That Bloke Off Corrie" as we know him now, led the multitudes all the way from Hove to Kemptown and back (with a little stopover at Chez Nous for some of us) with fine weather and a fair wind.

Remember that, without Stonewall, one of these days those boots are going to walk all over you...

The walkers set off into the sun... then a bit of rain... then some sun... a bit of wind and a bit more sun before a slight shower and all ending up in the sunshine at the Pavilion! Congratulations to everyone who made it!

The after party at Envy flowed with far too much Champagne from Mayfair Cellars...

about Stonewall

While politics and community issues may seem like a distraction to partying the night away, lunching with friends or shopping for the latest designer gear, it is, nevertheless, imperative that everyone in the UK – gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender or straight, makes time for an organisation such as Stonewall.
