It wasn't really the Amsterdam's first birthday, as those of you who have become used to manager Alex's friendly welcome over the past few years will be aware. However, it's already been a year since the hotel/bar/sauna came under new ownership, so it was a great reason to have a bit of a do.

We were entertained by Jerry and Dolores in an all-too-rare appearance on the Brighton circuit. Tonight, in deference to the sea-front location of the venue, they sported stripy bathing costumes (and I mean costumes) and charmed us with their unique style of luxury cabaret lounge entertainment which they perfected while cruising, before an unfortunate collision with Newhaven made them available for land-based audiences to appreciate.

Thanks to Alex and all the staff for a fun evening with some very welcome platters of tempting food as well.
