Brighton's best...

Sam's view from the Float '05...
review Aaah, the float. A party like no other! A chance for the LGBT community to shine, even if the sun doesn't... Thanks to the tens of thousands of people that turned out to support the parade as it wound its way through the centre of Brighton. Every smile, every clap and every cheer was appreciated by everyone on the float.I did actually write a little something about it for a letter that was printed on the back of the thing itself, but it was a bit of a flawed plan given that everyone was actually on the float by the time I put the notice on the back... so here are the words again for anyone (everyone!) who didn't get to read them on Saturday: Big, big thankyou to everyone on board the float today. You池e all lovely, special people without whom REALBrighton would just be... well... Brighton! Thanks for your hard work over the last year, for your increasingly lovely photos and your fabulous write-ups. Have a bloody marvellous Pride... we look forward to processing your photos! Big, big thankyou to the lovely James for making this all possible by bumping off his Great Aunt for the inheritance. And another Big thankyou to the wonderful Huw for working tirelessly on every job thrown at him... the latest being the fantastic Internet Point at Café 22! Get down there and take a look next week! This float is the culmination of lots of hard work by lots of lovely REALBrighton friends. If I started trying to name everyone who came to the workshops and gave their time up over the last few weeks then I壇 be bound to miss out someone important, so I知 afraid you値l have to make do with knowing that I知 extremely grateful for all your help! Big big big thankyou and I hope you enjoy your Pride all the more! Obviously special thanks neet to go to this year痴 Float Coordinator, Wilma, who has given up most of his summer holiday to paint the REALBrighon... sorry... I mean REALBrighTon banners that you see down the sides of the truck. Eighty foot of fabric, eighteen tins of paint, fifty-two birdcraps, six cartons of tip-ex and a hanky later and the banners are complete. Big thanks to you, Bill, for all your work in making sure it all came together in the end. I知 sorry you lost your sense of humour somewhere along the way, but I知 sure we値l find it as the truck rolls along today. Happy Pride 2005 everybody! And finally... Thanks to our goooorgeous wheelwalkers! Didn't they look stunning in their AussieBums!? Thanks in particular to Adrian for coordinating the boys and ensuring maximum... er... exposure for REALBrighton! And a great job done on handing out all the flyers as we rolled along! I mentioned it on the float, but special thankyou to Markie for getting us out of a hole late on Friday night/Saturday morning... without him the music would have been a disaster!
