Wild Fruit : Pride Closing Party...
review The Official Pride Closing Party and the biggest party of the Pride Weekend... A spectacular night of Brazilian Carnival Exotica to celebrate the finale of a fantastic weekend... And this year's, much like Pride itself, exceeded all expectations, and then some! With all advance tickets sold out well in advance, everyone else knew they would have to get there early to have a chance of getting in. And they were proven right, as by 10:30 the queue was winding it's way down West Street and around the corner. As the masses streamed into Creation the huge club was quickly moving as one to the frenzied beats pouring out of the DJ box. Our compere for the evening, the lovely Darcy looking like a true Amazonian, gave us a welcome nearly as warm as the club itself and introduced the first act. Living up to the Big Brazil Nuts theme, South American drummers took to the stage providing us with a tribal and uplifting percussion masterpiece. Folowing on swiftly was the singer from the Freemasons doing a live PA over their huge summer hit 'Love on my Mind'... Huge hit, huge voice and followed by the huge headdress of peacock feathers on the full-featured Dolly Rocket. In fact, it the headdress was so tall it had to be carried to the stage, as the ceiling was too low! Of course this was not the only costume to turn heads, In true Wild Fruit style, a number of guests looked splendid in fruit, feathers, sequins and so much glitter that the Brighton sewers must have been flowing gold and silver on monday morning! Meanwhile in the front room, recently rebranded as Bamboogy, with funky new décor including a flashing underlit dancefloor, the fantastic and irrepressable Dulcie Danger was working her usual magic by giving the crowd exactly what they wanted in the way of old school classics and dance anthems. Also packing them in upstairs was the Boudoir playing the best R & B. By the wee small hours when the few shirts left on were dripping with sweat, the unbelievably up-for-it crowd in the main room, were dancing like nobody was watching! The inspiring mixes provided by DJs Pier Morroco, Neil Duffie and Pete Haywood, had the crowd erupting en masse as soon as they recognised each new track. As usual 3am came far too soon, although I guess it's always best to leave everyone wanting more! Although we'll have to wait a whole year for the next, no doubt even bigger and even better Pride, thankfully we'll only need to wait a month for the next installment of everyone's favourite Fruity night. See you there!
and there's more...
