On the buses...
review The Popstarz team return to Brighton (well kind of). Not with a club night, but with a bus service, to take those eager Brightonians to London for only £22 all-inclusive.After a few last minute toilet, food and drink runs, the Popstarz express was well underway. Although there were only about twenty-five people the mood was good, and there was even mix of boys and girls, with DJ Dubledee from Popstarz doing a fantastic job organising everyone, supplying the music and explaining the night to us. Talking to people on the bus it seemed that for most people this wasn’t their first trip to Popstarz, and certainly wasn’t going to be their last. The bus journey had the atmosphere of a school trip, with Christine dishing out the goodie bags with free cds, badges, posters and sweets while we all sat back and enjoyed the ride. We arrived in London at 10:30, got dropped off outside the Scala and went straight into the club skipping the huge queue. Once inside we didn’t have to queue for the cloakroom and made it straight to the bar, and were dancing within ten minutes. The Popstarz experience is spread across three rooms; The Common Room, playing a mix of alternative indie and dance, the Rubbish Room 80s trash and 90s anthems, and the Love Lounge commercial Hip hop and RnB. The diversity of the music offered by Popstarz really does mean there is something for everyone, and I couldn’t imagine ever having a bad night there. After four solid hours of dancing we headed back to the bus, with the words ‘if you don’t make it back by 2:30 we are leaving without you’ ringing in our ears. The majority of the group did make it back to the bus on time, and we left at about 3:00. Everyone seemed to have had an amazing time, and most people definitely could have carried on until 4am, although there were a few of us who wanted our beds, and a few London clubbers who quite fancied coming back to Brighton with us. The journey definitely produced and couple of interesting quotes my personal favourites "Who pulled that German?" and "Who’s got the man in the dress?" For only £25 the Popstarz bus is definitely good value for money, return travel, queue jump entry, a free drink, and quite a few nice freebies. Although the bus wasn’t full we still all had a great time, and I think we shall all be doing it again next month! If you haven’t been yet definitely book yourself a place on the next bus, and let Popstarz give you the ride of your life!
