review

After a blistering success this year, Homotopia, Liverpool's queer arts and culture festival, drew to a close with a stunning line-up of vocal and musical talent before a good old dance downstairs!

Gary Everett and the team behind this wonderful two weeks of events should be justifiably proud of this impressive achievement.

Tonight was hosted by the irrepressible Rosie Lugosi (Lesbian Vampire Bitch from Hell - her words not ours). Popular lesbian songstress, Al Start, started things off with a great acoustic set. Tom Lang (I want him at my wedding...) followed with a superb set of jazz standards - the hairs really went at the back of the neck - it was that good! Jennifer John did a few songs - great voice too. Finally, the absolutely outstanding David McAlmont.

It was possibly a bit of a shame that some in the audience didn't offer a little more respect to these wonderful performances by keeping quiet, and to those two drunk people 'dancing' and bashing into people - I hope you felt like hell the next day!

The evening didn't end there... the disco went on until 4am. A great night and a fitting close to this year's festival!

Roll on next year.
