Vive La France...
review Pussycat Club, now in it's tenth year, always attracts a mixed and friendly crowd who are just out to dress up, look good and have fun. This month was no exception, the theme being Vive Le France, so as could be expected there was an abundance of stripy t-shirts, berets, feather dusters and the faint whiff of onion in the air. The great thing about this night is that many people really make the effort to dress up and go to town with their outfits - as you'll see from the pics. Although the production values may have slipped somewhat in recent times, the quality of the music hasn't. Tonight we were joined by hard trance master Lee Haslam, one of the most well respected DJs/producers in the hard dance music. In the packed front bar Rob McAlpin layed down uplifting funky house all night but the main room was where the real fun was. Alex Outram warmed up the crowd superbly with some pumping energetic electro house before Nippa took over at midnight. By then the dancefloor was packed and Nippa picked up the pace, getting tougher and dirtier but not too dark, even dropping a bit of Madonna in there. At 1:45am we were treated to a lovely little can-can perfomance from a couple of beautiful ladies - it's these random little things that makes Pussycat so great! Then Lee Haslam stepped up to the decks and rocked the crowd with a flawless blend of driving tech trance and uplifting euphoric trance, climaxing with the classic riff of Insomnia and a brilliant hard trance remix of Donna Summer - I Feel Love leaving the hardcore few that were left punching the air and screaming for more! Keep your eyes on REALBrighton for details of the next Pussycat.
