Finding an appropriate way to celebrate the huge talents and the love felt by so many for the late, great Phil Starr was no mean feat. When You Tell Me That You Love Me was a unique show that filled the stage at the Brighton Dome with talent, bringing the capacity audience to a standing ovation. A resounding success, then, and a fitting tribute to Phil's life.

Hosted by Lola Lasagne, the line-up was carefully assembled to reflect the great diversity of Phil's work. From traditional variety performances to the gay scene in London and Brighton, there was genuine warmth in the atmosphere both on and off the stage.

"This truly was a wonderful
evening - testament to the
effort of all those involved."
This truly was a wonderful evening - testament to the effort of all those involved. The tone was perfectly pitched and it was comforting to see a humble and heartfelt tribute from all the performers to a very missed and hugely talented star - we knew exactly what the show was about - no egos or attitudes allowed!

Thanks should go for the support of Arena Entertainments for supplying the audio-visuals, to all the artistes who put in their time and to the support from GScene Magazine who will be printing full accounts for the night in their March issue.

The money raised will be split between The Sussex Beacon and The Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre in Shoreham.

about Phil Starr

It is with great sadness that we report Phil Starr's death on 18 October 2005. Phil was hugely loved by so many people in Brighton and far beyond. There was a great sense of shock around town as people try to come to terms with such a loss and many tributes have been made by a fan base that extended internationally.
