review

It was a birthday, of sorts. It's a year ago that FTPA moved its monthly home to Candy Bar, so what better way to celebrate than by throwing a party for a crowd of deviant friends and then inviting your mum and dad along? Or rather Yr Mum & Ya Dad, who are something quite different altogether. Causing a stir on the alternative scene and the art world (after an incident at the Tate Modern, apparently), tonight they were on the decks rather than on stage. Alternating with regulars DJ W*nker and A-Dam, there was something both for the hardcore-electro-anorak-set and the lighter-listener with Donna Summer, Goldfrapp and New Order getting the dance floor grooving.

A great night out, yet again. Thanks guys.

about F*ck The Pain Away

F*ck the Pain Away - launched in the summer of 2003, and now billed as "Brighton's favourite Homo Electro Punk Disco" - is alternative queer clubbing at its best. Originally a monthly fixture at Storm, the night moved across to the less-earthy surroundings of Candy Bar in March 2005. They take over the reins at the venue while the girls run their Wet Pussy night elsewhere.
