In a small, but perfectly formed way, Stonewall popped down to Brighton to launch this year's Equality Walk at the wonderful Square Hotel.
It was good to catch up with Anna, Ben Summerskill and the team and find out about plans for the event, now in it's third year.
The Equality Walk 2006 will take place on 30th April and will again set off on its 10km route along the seafront (with a few pitstops along the way). There will be a post-walk celebration at Charles Street with prize-givings. All you need to join in is to get a minimum of £25 in sponsorship. There will be plenty of goodies to give away as incentive to raising as much as possible though, of course!
Why do we need to raise money?
Stonewall has been instrumental in getting our rights to the forefront of politics, getting the issues discussed and the decisions made. We now have equality legislation and Civil Partnerships - an enormous achievement. But there is still work to do. Hate crimes which include violent attacks and even murder are still taking place in this country.
We need to support Stonewall's campaigns in the hope that they will make a difference.
So get yourself some sponsorship, visit their site to register and bring your friends and family out for the day in what is a very civilised and enjoyable way to help to secure our own future.
We'll see you there!
