Today saw the second International Day Against Homophobia and to mark the occasion, a number of local events were organised.
During the afternoon, a free screening of Dangerous Living: Coming out in the developing world made clear the differences and difficulties people in other countries experience.
Although the weather deterred some, around 45 people gathered outside the Town Hall to voice support for the day. The Rainbow Chorus sang and Councillors Simon Williams of the Green Party and Paul Elgood of the Liberal Democrats, as well as Nimrod Ping addressed the crowd before John Irvine led us in a few moments of silence to reflect on what we'd heard.
Later, a pub quiz organised by the LGBT Forum was run at The Brighton Tavern, in support of the day. The questions were challenging and entertaining - and there were some great prizes on offer, as well as a superb buffet.
Keep an eye on our listings for details of further events run by the Forum - a great chance to meet people and make some new friends. They organise a 'Fabulous Friendly Friday' the first weekend of each month and can be easily spotted thanks to their furry pink flamingo...
