The curtains close on the the West Pier's final performance. With a last pyrotechnic sigh, smouldering wet ash filled the air and what little was left of the pier fell into the swirling sea. That's all, folks.

Once again Richard was at the scene, braving the hellish weather to get some shots for the site. And between gusts of wind and heavy rain he managed very well. On my return from London I stepped off the train and could immediately smell the burning... I made it down to the beach to grab a few photos of the final flickering flames...
