Tina C...
review
This is Tina C like you've never seen her before... under canvas! America's white-trash Rhinestone Republican was at the Spiegeltent for just one night... "Hello Bry-town! ...I feel like Billie Graham, only Prettier!"
Tonight was a chance for Tina to share some of her favourite songs with us, and to recount some tales of her experiences as she travels the globe spreading peace and happiness... As well as being a big name country & western singer, Tina tells us that she also recently stood for president, using her song "I think the world needs a drink" to help her win votes. I've got a feeling she's not only right, but may do rather well...
Always a favourite of mine - I hope she never gets bored of singing it - was the fabulous song I became schizophrenic so I could love you twice as much. The audience had a chance to join in with the chorus but it's the lilting-to-the-point-of-toppling verses that had us crying into our pints. Tracks that we unfortunately didn't get to hear included, If you can't live without me then why weren't you dead when I met you? and Of course I want you for your body, I've got a mind of my own.
You've simply never heard Purple Rain until you've heard Tina C singing it. Purple Rain is, we're told, a metaphor for all the bad feelings in the world (at least I think that's the gist of it...!)... of particular note, Purple Rain describes the feeling Tina got when she found out that she couldn't even drink bottled water anymore due to the spread of Evian flu. And the feeling she got when she arrived in her winnebago to discover she was performing in tent... in the middle of a traffic circle. Our hands were in the air - in between wiping the tears from our eyes.
It goes without saying that we loved the show. If you have the opportunity to see Tina C before she shoots to stardom (or becomes President) then you shouldn't waste any time buying your tickets.
