Brighton & Hove (actually) Gay Men's Chorus"Come and join the Chorus! We're a great bunch of guys who love to sing their hearts out every Monday night and have fun doing it. We perform in full on concerts, for gay weddings, in pubs - in fact, anywhere they'll let us! We have some amazingly talented professionals working with us but you don't have to be Pavarotti to join in - just enthusiastic and willing to share your voice with the world.
Recent escapades include: the In The Mood show (reviewed here and in the Guardian); being recorded for Radio 4; our first civil partnership earlier in 06; our first birthday party in October 06 - now that was someting to sing home about!"

When a leggy waiter in drag calling himself "Booby" offers you a protein-fuelled cock-blast you know you picked the right bar. When the staff start getting killed off one by one by the 7-inch heel of a glittery sling-back, you really know you picked the right bar...
Tonight I was at Saucy Jacks, a seedy little cabaret bar on planet Frottage Three. How I got here I'm not exactly sure. You see I went into The Sussex Arts club expecting to watch the cult musical “Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens” and ended up being right in the middle of the action.
The venue had been completely transformed into a cabaret club; there were even space-themed food menus and signature cocktails such as the Cosmic Screw and the Radar Thrust. There's a cabaret stage to the side, where some action happens, but it seems to be right in the audience and in particular our table where the majority of the play occurs. This isn't a good thing when there is a cyber serial killer on the loose.
The story takes the audience on a rocket ride of murder and lust with guy-gets-girl, girl-gets-girl, and guy-gets-guy subplots. Outrageously camp, highly energetic, top-to-toe shocking and overflowing with sexual innuendo with main characters such as Jubilee Climax, Bunny Lingus and Anna Labia. The play ends in a gigantic orgasmic climax where everyone gets everyone - and even the audience join in!
The music I thought was pretty awful, but this made the show even more hilarious. No doubt the cast had amazing vocal talent and performed the songs flawlessly and with panache but there was something really tacky about the hit anthems “Glitter Boots Saved My Life” and “All I need Is Disco.” Having said that, I admit I've been humming these two songs continuously for the last two days - the sleazy disco-esque musical numbers have earned a cult following of their own.
However it was the energy of the cast, the consistency of the characters and the impressive lighting that made the night for me. Furthermore I was glad to be seeing a cult musical in Brighton that wasn't another re-run of the Rocky Horror Show.
“Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens” is incredibly tacky, trashy and a bit surreal and shocking in places. We loved it and all had a fantastic time, especially our friend Rupert who was celebrating his twentieth birthday. He enjoyed the play so much he joined in dancing at the end! You will leave the Sussex Arts Club singing and dancing the songs… and that's a promise!
So slip on a pair of sexy sling-backs, cover yourself in bubble-wrap, sprinkle on a bit of glitter and get your buns down to Saucy Jacks and be saved by the power of disco!
