With the royal wedding of Charles and Diana already taking place in the Pavilion Gardens as a part of the Fringe Festival, it would seem only fitting that they provide their honourable guests with an eclectic wedding reception full of exotic delights! Held in the conveniently intimate Fringe Bar, the guests donned fabulous gowns (both men and women), exquisitely mint green suits and a range of other strange garments (Princess Knickers...?) With the balcony providing the perfect soirée, the entertainment began...
Fabulous performances from Lorraine Bowen, the dancing vixens that are The Show Ponies (beautiful dresses by fashion Guru Yoko Oh’No), the ever-animated Le Gateaux Chocolate’s wild musical performances and Thrilla Camilla’s rather raucous performance of Bonnie Tyler’s Holding Out For A Hero. Oh, I don’t think a wedding has ever been quite so... different. Of course the star of the show – Princess Knickers – took first prize in her hilarious strip show to The Birdy Song as the queen mother. Not content with just the titty tassles, it was the Blue Peter “here’s one I made earlier” cut-and-paste style muff wiggery that had the crowd in hysterics. Simply genius. Not forgetting the beloved themselves – Charles and Diana – treated us to some trashy 80s wedding tracks from Fivestar to Black Lace.
If this was the wedding reception of the year, I look forward to the divorce celebrations!
