What a pleasure it was, in an interlude between dashing from street parties to photographic bar crawls, to slip into the Joogleberry Playhouse for a while on Pride Sunday to experience Fake Bush.
The downstairs cabaret theatre was packed with fans soaking up both the familiar and unexpected sounds of Fake/Kate (aka Lucy Bundy). The highlight for me was the rendition of Lady Grinning Soul. To those unfamiliar with this song it must have seemed like a Kate Bush gem from an album they must have somehow missed. It is, in fact, an old David Bowie song, beautifully arranged by über-talented pianist Patrick and a perfect choice for Kate/Lucy’s voice.
Watch out for Fake Bush’s next appearance and make sure you book in advance to avoid disappointment; you’ll kick yourself (inside) if you miss her again.
