For the uninitiated, Miss TG is an annual event (now in its third year) that raises funds for local charities, and raises awareness of the trans community in general. The event continues to grow each year, moving from the Portland Pub in 2004, to the Sussex Arts Club in 2005, to its new home at the luxurious Kooklub!
Contestants arrived from all over the UK... hairdressers to mechanics, engineers to doctors... they were all here! The two beauty pageants were held for Miss Mature and for Miss TG Brighton.
Stephanie Starlet did a fabulous job compering the evening, keeping everything moving and ensuring a sparkling atmosphere. Each contestant on stage answered a few questions from Stephanie, and then paraded themselves for the judges and crowd. This was always going to be a closely fought battle so the panel of judges (including last year's winner, Melissa Lilac) had their work cut out for them!
This year's Miss TG was announced as Sasha D, with Tonya Mae and Robyn as runners up. Miss Mature was won by Andrea with Linda Martin and Helen as the two runners up. Congratulations to everyone who entered! Much partying ensued as we all enjoyed the rest of the evening!
This year the event raised over a thousand pounds for The Clare Project, The Sussex Beacon and The Martlets Hospice. The event was sponsored by Mortgage Advisory Services, sk:n Portsmouth and Curvessence.
