Great Scott!...
review
Brighton based production company Sweet Talk performed Great Scott to an overflowing house upstairs at Komedia tonight. You won't have heard the story of Scott of the Antarctic told quite like this before... Complete with singing penguins and show-stopping musical numbers such as "Norwegian love" and "Our love is fish!", the comical, tragic story unfolded.
Great Scott was written by local humorists Hugh Card and Steve Bell with music and songs by Joe Bell and Isaac Cockburn. Most of the show was put together up at the Lord Nelson - where Hugh and Steve can often be found propping up the bar should anyone like to put up the money for the show's transition to stage or TV!
The acting was, as you'd expect from a top cast, first rate and the rare chance to see singing penguins was a real treat. Some of the more explicit lines will, no doubt, have hit the cutting room floor but you'll be able to catch most of the rest of the show if you tune into BBC Radio Four over Christmas 2006.
