Look! It's him out of Take That!...
review
A largely orderly queue formed from early in the evening, the security staff quickly removing the odd rowdy reveller whilst a charming lady at the door welcomed in the better behaved clubbers. This was always going to be a good night and everyone seemed focused on the evening ahead rather than the boredom of waiting for it to start.
Cliché of the night? "OMG - look! It's him out of Take That!" Yes, it was indeed Howard Donald, as proved by a few mesmerised individuals who spent the whole night trying to capture him on their mobile phones...
It was warm inside. Pretty hot, in fact. At one point I began to wonder if there was some massive BBQ I was missing out on... 'Nah, the air con's buggered', a staff member reliably informed me. This didn’t slow anyone down though and as Howard settled into his set, the night really took off.
The cooler air above the gathered masses was busy with strobe-lit water bottles held high, clashing with the camera lenses of several photographers. [The best photos of you lot are, of course, here!]. Wet and steaming bodies were only separated by the frantic hand-waving of people trying to get my attention for pictures of themselves and their friends jumping around...
Dulcie Danger supplied a suitable alternative to the main room, striking up a fun set of tunes for familiar faces that by now were almost filling the back room. James Vodka Martinez & Rob Thurston kept the Honeybar a warm and cosy chill out zone that occasionally spilt outside, much to the frustration of the people still waiting to get in!
There was no low point to the evening - once everyone was up to speed, it just kept going. The energy of everyone there was more than impressive, which matched the music perfectly.
