Never before has the saying, ‘You haven’t done Brighton until you’ve done Dynamite Boogaloo’ been more true, more right and if you were going to pick a Thursday night to give it ago, this was the one to be at, their 15th, yes 15th birthday!

A pre-party Above Audio involving a select crowd started the night off early. The man himself, Boogaloo Stu, gave offerings of cakes with profanities scrawled over them, too rude to type here(although you can probably make them out in the photos) and wine to wash them down with.

Downstairs the party was well underway - many happy people wearing items of clothing nearly as ironically ridiculous as the entertainment.

A massive cheer greeted the order to ‘clear the stage’ as a suitably cheery Boogaloo Stu, Miss Dolly Rocket, in head-to-toe black PVC and Le Gateau Chocolat appeared on stage…

The familiar camp antics were out in force, tweaked even more than usual for tonight, hysterical would be an understatement: The cabaret was pure indulgent farce with lyrics forgotten (the sheet with the lyrics on lost) and an operatic outburst that had everyone singing in Italian, by far one of the best performances I’ve ever witnessed.

The customary audience participation, that is so often greeted with bashfulness, was tonight a sea of raised hands and there was almost a small scale riot to the right of the stage that kept security on their toes! From the mess, two suitably dressed members of the public were picked to play ‘Sh*t lips’. This involved a series of ludicrous, celebrity based questions being asked and ‘wrong‘ answers had the participants' faces decorated with what we're lead to believe is chocolate body paint which quickly expanded to include the rest of their bodies…after all their clothes being removed obviously. If that wasn’t enough, the show was topped off with the Sparkle Motion dancers.

Dynamite Sal, Eddie the Goatboy and Dolly Deluxe continued the evening fun with a mix of tunes we have all come to expect from this eccentric night that will be around for a long time to come.

Too much, will never be enough.
