Danceteria was, for most people who attended, the best post-pride party for years, not to mention one of the sweatiest. Set in the elegant and sumptuous surroundings of the Sussex Arts club, the night was bound to be a success.

The promoter's insistence on zero tolerance to attitude seemed to be key, "Only the friendly need apply" was the moniker on the beautifully designed posters. And it worked.

Bringing for the first time to Brighton, Manchester heavyweight Philipa Jarman from the legendary Homoelectric, the music was as a storming selection of the very best in 2 step, break beats and just a tinge of hip hop.

All in all a very pleasing alternative.
