May Day DTPM...
review
It's Bank Holiday Monday and the urban, street, trendy, cool crowd is once again descending on DTPM! By the time REALLondon arrived the place was already packed and the queue was stretching back to Pimlico, but the venue seems to be able to handle the huge numbers well.
DTPM is a warren of a nightclub, with three main dance floors, a chill-out lounge and a massive bar area. The lighting on the dance floors is low, the music is loud and the atmosphere electric. DTPM attracts a well-dressed urban crowd, who are really into their music whilst being stylish yet friendly.
The music on the main floor started off as electro funky house but as the night progressed so did the music, becoming fresher and somehow more danceable. DJs like DJ Klad, Lisa German, Alan Thompson, Guy Williams, Paul Heron, Mis-White and more all played excellent sets - each one proving that they knew how to stun the crowd with their eclectic beats and fantastic mixing.
Everyone was dancing and mingling with smiles on their faces and there was a really good atmosphere. The lighting was amazing and extremely well managed and added to the mood of the night - the whole experience kind of reminding me of the indoor arena of Space in Ibiza... at times I had to remind myself that I wasn't in Sunny Spain!
When it all got too much on the dance floor I moved over to the bar area which was teeming with people ready to pose for the camera. The music was pumping and the artificial smoke helped create a dark and kinky atmosphere with everyone mingling, talking and dancing. Everyone had made an effort to look cool even when sweating loads but it was great to wander around the club and chat with strangers as if we were
old friends!
It was nice to enjoy an evening where everyone had come out to rave to good music in a young, fresh and funky surroundings. Anyone who enjoys their house music on the funky, tribal London is promised a fantastic night at DTPM.
