European Gay Regatta 2007...
review
The European Gay Cup 2007 took place last weekend at Brighton Marina. The event, sponsored by Barclay’s Bank, saw over 50 keen sailors from UK, Netherlands, Germany, and France take part in a friendly, but competitive, two days of racing.
The competition was organised by the Sailing & Cruising Association, the UK’s national gay sailing organisation which is soon to open a Brighton section (contact David King on 0781 308 3944 for more details or check
out www.gaysailing.org.uk).
SailnetUK based at Brighton Marina supplied the racing boats and the event received lots of support from local businesses. The cup was eventually awarded to one of the UK teams, meaning it will be held in Brighton again in 2008, already plans are underway for a bigger and better event.

It's perhaps surprising to learn that Brighton's marina is the largest in Europe with over 1,600 yachting berths. Opened by Her Majesty The Queen in 1978, the fortunes of Brighton Marina have been as up and down as the tide. Click for more info and complete listings for Brighton Marina
