Brighton Pride: Wild Fruit...
review
The night should have been one of the best parties that Brighton's seen for ages. A newly refurbished venue, a fantastic sound system, great decor, music and happy people... but it all went a bit pearshaped...
Having queued for an hour or so to get in (which isn't unusual on Pride weekend) we were turned around and marched out due to a fire alarm. We then spent the next hour on the street outside, and were finally let back in at about 1am. Given that the bar closed at 2am (even for soft drinks, except water) this put a bit of a downer on the night.
I'm sure there'll be much discussion about this over the forthcoming months. Rumours that the fire-alarm system in the Corn Exchange has been temperamental, and that the bar licence should at least have allowed for late sale of soft drinks...
But most of us just piled back in and made the most of the rest of the night. A good time was had, despite the problems.

The monthly Wild Fruit is undoubtedly one of Brighton's clubbing institutions. Always glamorous, always packed and always great music from resident DJs Pete Haywood, Neil Duffie and friends. The night is often punctuated with stage acts, muscly dancers, regular live big name PAs and guest DJs such as local superstar DJ Norman Cook... it's NEVER a dull party!
