review

We always do it, no matter how organised or disorganised we are. Whether we've been stuck on the M6 for seventeen hours, or have been having a relaxing drink on Canal Street - we still manage to turn up at the Press Launch an hour late. This year, it was the M6 and not our flapping around trying to select the perfect outfit...and you'll see that clearly from the photos. Screeching to a halt outside the venue, Cagney & Lacey style, we arrived breathless to make the most of the last few minutes.

As it turned out, it was a great opportunity to meet, mingle with our Manchester media colleagues and catch up with all the gossip. It's good to see familiar faces of people we've been working alongside for a good few years now.

We were also treated with an appearance at the launch by Belinda Carlisle, the headline artist appearing on the Main Stage on the first night, who was genuinely at ease and chatting to everyone there.

We should also point out that the Skyline Room at the City Inn really does offer spectacular views of the city - including Canal Street and The Gay Village - with the sights of endless rainbow flags and the sounds of the Pride Big Weekend party already in full swing.

about Manchester Pride

Manchester Pride has been around for a number of years, previously in the guise of Mardi Gras, GayFest and the Ab Fab Weekend. In recent years, the organisation has grown significantly, focussed its aims and provided a network for community groups, the City Council and the gay businesses - no mean feat!
