REALBrighton review

It's Friday night and the lights are low...god, aren't the evenings drawing in. Anyway..we popped off to give Mad Peter a birthday card and a quick peck on the cheek (to his horror) while taking a quick look round The Terraces. Not bad..until you check out the bar prices (anyone would think we were in a GAY BAR). After than, we hotfoot it to Black Dog Café - the lovely Jane Reeves' new venture at the old Pink Pamper site. All looks pretty good.

After some cheap supermarket booze and hobnobbing with Brighton gliteratti, we dropped in on Brighton Rocks to admire Rich's handiwork (the sign!), and at this time, rather bleary eyed, try to blag our way into Joogleberry Playhouse for the Chicago night.

Despite not wearing fishnets and feather boa, we finally get in and WOW! It was like stumbling upon a fancy dress party. Everyone had made an effort - the Jazz was playing, people were dancing. The most mixed crowd I've seen in a long time - mixed ages, gay, straight, singles and couples..this is what Brighton should be about. Nobody cared about anything other than having a good time - and there were plenty of good times going on.

After flashing my camera around the place, twirling around on the dance floor like a loonie, and a rather embarrassing Catherine Zeta-Jones impression involving a wooden chair and limited inhibitions, it was time to go....ahhh...prohibition...such a charming time in history...

If you haven't been to Joogleberry's, then you are obviously mad. Watch out for Halloween Night (31 Oct) and a special Moulin Rouge Pary (7 Nov) - check out our listings for details. Now, I wonder if their ceilings high enough for my trapeze act?
