M.I.A...
review
M.I.A first came to the music world's attention in 2004 by sharing her songs with the internet. In early 2005 she was nominated for a Mecury Music Award for her debut album 'Arular'. Since then, she has claimed the airwaves by having hits such as 'Jimmy' and 'Boyz' from her second album 'Kala' played nationwide by popular Radio stations.
Tonight was a chance for Brighton fans to sample her live peformance and boy, those fans loved it. M.I.A is a self-proclaimed Politcs Ambassador having lived through the civil war in Sri Lanka, but as she let us know tonight, finds it hard to get her point accross so relies heavily on her music. The gig took me back to seeing Peaches a few years ago (who M.I.A supported early in her career) at the Concorde, sweaty people, pushy crowds and some serious dancing. The 'ladies' amongst us were invited on stage to dance with Maya and her two other singers and they grabbed the chance.
A brilliant, brilliant gig enjoyed by every single person in there. Buy her albums, listen to her music and get dancing.
(I'm afraid we're not able to bring you any photos of the night as the crowd was a rather enthusiastic one and absolutely refused to let me us close enough for a pic or two - hard as we tried!)

about Concorde 2

Okay, so you may have to walk a bit to reach it... but that just makes it that little bit more exclusive doesn't it! Located along Madeira Drive, the Concorde 2 is a sizeable venue with a huge variety of clubnights and bands on each month. Some top names, some great festivals, World Music... you name it. If you can't find something to pique your interest then you might as well pack your bags and head for Eastbourne... The next Concorde 2 date for your diary:
