As the votes were tallied from the thousands of you who filled in the online form or send in your paper ballots from Gscene, so the stage was being set for the 2007/8 Golden Handbag Awards night... one of the year's biggest local LGBT fundraising events!
As well as the presentation of some 20+ awards, the evening was awash with talented cabaret acts - all of whom gave their services for absolutely nothing. The evening was hosted by the fabulous Lola Lasagne who once again held the evening together like no other can! We were treated to performances from Dave Lynn, Maisie Trollette, the Drag With No Name, the City of Brighton Gay Men's Chorus (CBGMC) and the Brighton & Hove (actually) Gay Men's Chorus, Ceri Dupree, a fabulous number from the alternative panto with Jamie Watson, Pooh La May, Maisie, Lady James, Pat Cruise and Dave Lynn, and for the finale the Xfactor's Unconventionals performed a few numbers.
loved it!
I loved this event! Not only was it the most fun I have had in a while but I got nominated as scene personality! And I can tell you, it's the nomnation that counts not the winning! The fact that enough people remembered you when it comes to voting is good enough for me!
