review

Wild Fruit went all Navada Desert on us tonight, with plenty of punters pulling out all the stops and turning up in Vegas theme! Dice were rolling across the dancefloor, dollar bills were being liberally stuffed down the pants of anyone who looked like they could be bought (I resent the two dollars that I found down my underwear the next morning!), and Elvis was definitely In The Building!

Tonight's special guest was DJ Seamus Haji... if you don't want to have his babies then you're either a straight male with no taste in music or you haven't danced in front of the DJ box while he's playing. He found friends amongst Neil Duffie and Mr Haywood, who took us through until the last bit of silver confetti had descended from the ceiling and we legged it for the coat-check queue (if you were in that queue for longer than pleased you this evening then you weren't alone - and your concerns were taken very seriously by the Fruit team... more on that below).

The deliciously fruity Dolly Rocket grabbed a bunch of outrageously shapely showgirls and a handful of boys in skimpy shiny shorts and broke up the party momentarily to make herself the centre of attention as is her duty, and before we knew it the lights were up and the party was heading over for some post-fruit Rebel...

Wild Fruit wanted us to print the following footnote to this story:

A big thank you to all who came along to our big Bank Holiday Wild Fruit special on Sunday 23rd March, it really was a great night full of the glitz, glamour and fun that we all expect from a top Fruit party. We recognise that there were some operational problems for TRU on that date and we have expressed our concerns to the venues management on our customers' behalf. Tru have asked us to pass on the following message:

We would like to apologise to anyone who felt that their evening was ruined by the lengthy cloakroom queue or delays at the bar at this bank holiday Wild Fruit.

Whilst we endeavour to pre plan for the influx of customers on these bank holiday dates but it is always a difficult operation to process everyone’s coats at the cloakroom. When over 1,400 customers flood the venue in a very short space of time this will inevitably cause delays as the system cannot cope when everyone wants to deposit coats etc on what was the coldest night of the year. We will always do our very best to deal with customers' coats as quickly as is possible to avoid long queues and frustrating delays, we appreciate your patience and cooperation in this matter.

Delays at the bars on this evening were unfortunately due to a number of staff letting the team down at the last minute.

We will also display all drink promotions prominently on all bars so that customers are free to make an informed choice and take advantage of all drink deals.

The next Wild Fruit we will offer a clothing deposit facility separate from the coat check - hopefully easing congestion.

Thank you.

Twice as much fun as a barrel of monkeys (and significantly less hassle to explain to the RSPA), Wild Fruit continues to dazzle and excite us. Where would we be without our regular bank holiday night?

about Wild Fruit

The monthly Wild Fruit is undoubtedly one of Brighton's clubbing institutions. Always glamorous, always packed and always great music from resident DJs Pete Haywood, Neil Duffie and friends. The night is often punctuated with stage acts, muscly dancers, regular live big name PAs and guest DJs such as local superstar DJ Norman Cook... it's NEVER a dull party!
