Secret Monkey!...
review Luckily for us, no-one can keep a secret in Brighton... Secret Monkey was packed! Those of us who fondly remembered Monkey at the Gloucester turned up to meet a whole new crowd of Monkey virgins at the Kooklub for a one-off special party. For many people this was also their first taste of the Kooklub - a somewhat more sophisticated venue than the Gloucester - and obviously a bit closer to the centre of all the action. The sparkly venue may have played a part in the fact that there wasn't quite the sea of sweaty flesh as in days of yore - there were many more shirts on than off tonight. Though, as in its heyday, the dancefloor was every bit as boistrous as Neil Duffie and Mr Haywood banged out the tunes to a receptive, bouncy crowd. There's little doubt that Monkey is still very much alive... my guess is that we can expect to see it back again soon!
